In one of my latest Instagram posts, I asked everybody what type of templates they wanted to see and I promised I would try to make some of them. Well, here is the first template I'm releasing from those requests. It's everyone's favorite cat - Hello Kitty.
I think I've loved Kitty since the early days of my childhood. My first memory of Kitty involved one incident when my sister and I received two sets of stationary between us. One set was a cute red Hello Kitty one and the other was blue printed with airplanes and cars. As anyone with kids can attest, you must always buy same-sexed siblings nearly identical gifts because a quarrel will surely ensue over items that have even the slightest differences. In this case, we definitely bickered over who would get the Kitty set. I, being younger and probably less wilful at the time, ended up with the blue airplane set and a face full of tears. Mom stepped in right away and taught me the first lesson I could remember on individuality. She said to me, "Yes, Kitty is cute but so many people have Hello Kitty. Why long for what everyone else have when you can have something different and special?" At the time, I'm sure an exhausted Mom would have said just about anything to pacify me but I did end up taking that to heart. Even now, I would often wait until everyone else had chosen before I decide on what I wanted. Not that I think I'm less basic than everyone else, but probably because I've always been a little bit weird or the word they like to use nowadays - quirky 🙂
Well, now that I'm a little older and wiser, I think I can indulge in some Hello Kitty lovn which I was denied long ago. I hope you like this Kitty macaron tower. I even made her in an offbeat purple and pink combo because you know, "Why long for what everyone else have when you can have something special?" Thanks Mom ♥
Hope you enjoy the template.
XOXO,
Mimi

Hello! What do you use to create your macaron tower/cone? Thanks!
Mimi says
Hi,
I use a styrofoam cone which you can buy at Michael's craft store. Then I attache it with royal icing. For macarons that are filled, assembled and chilled, you can use a toothpick. Place toothpick into the cone, then push the macaron onto the stick.
XOXO,
Mimi

I have spent the last several days printing out just about every bit of information from your site. I put everything into a binder for reference. 🙂 I have watched just about every tutorial on youtube and now I am ready to attempt my first batch, just need to get a few tools...scale and oven thermometer! I am a cake decorator but have always been scared to try macarons. I like the challenge of taking on something new. Your Hello Kitty story reminded me of the days when my sister and I would argue over who got what for Hello Kitty stationary. I also was the younger one and she was a Hello Kitty bully lol!!

Aww! Your story really made me smile! Thanks for sharing as well. I hope you can make some kitties with the recipe and template. After all, we need to make up for lost time, don't we 🙂 hehe
